Cerebral Palsy Nepal (registered as Self-Help Group for Cerebral Palsy, Nepal) is Nepal’s only non-governmental and non-profit organization dedicated to supporting people with cerebral palsy and their families. Since our foundation 27 years ago, we have helped thousands of individuals with cerebral palsy and development delay to overcome many of the barriers they face, and to live happy and fulfilled lives.
Bring your skills and enthusiasm to those who need them most.
Volunteering with Cerebral Palsy Nepal is a chance to directly improve the quality of life of Nepal’s children with cerebral palsy, as well as to learn new skills and gain valuable work experience.
Cerebral Palsy Nepal greatly values the contributions of volunteers and students. Volunteers and students help us to run vital programmes for children with cerebral palsy, whilst our therapeutic and medical staff welcome the chance to exchange ideas on techniques and approaches with those studying relevant vocational courses.
Cerebral Palsy Nepal runs a structured programme for volunteers. Once you have submitted a CV and reference, if it is possible to place you, Cerebral Palsy Nepal will produce a structured placement plan for you. You will complete a four-day induction programme that will give you a comprehensive introduction to the organisation.
Our voluntary placements include:
- Therapy or Medical Placement (medicine, physiotherapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, educational psychology) – using your vocational skills, work directly with cerebral palsy children at our centre, a regional daycare centre, or through home visits.
- Special Education Programme Placement – work with the children in our school or Vocational Training Unit.
- Organisational Support Placement –help Cerebral Palsy Nepal to grow through using your skills in marketing, research or administration.
Cerebral Palsy Nepal can help you to locate suitable accommodation for the duration of your placement.
Many of our volunteers report having a very rewarding a time, and many come to us after hearing of the experiences of others. Those who come to us often come back again!
